New Balancing Changes: Loot Buffs

ear Tibians,

since our balancing efforts have started, we have received an enormous amount of feedback from you, the community. Some welcomed the changes, others raised valid concerns.

After three weeks and several partial changes, we are buffing most of the affected monsters loot-wise. Our measures to decrease the gold inflow proved highly efficient – so efficient in fact that we have enough leeway to increase the profatibility of all focussed hunting grounds without sacrificing our goal: to combat inflation.

This is also in response to player feedback that hunts became unsustainable for them, as their waste would often outweigh their loot.

However, these changes will not make the hunting grounds as profitable again or even more profitable compared to before the rebalancing, as these hunting grounds were responsible for the massive inflow of gold into the game. Nevertheless, we decided to lessen the gold nerf considerably to allow players of all level ranges to better finance their hunts.

It is still imperative for us to keep a lid on gold inflation and inflow, which was one of the main motivations behind the rebalancing.

We will keep a close eye on the situation in regards to gold and XP inflow and will compare them to our goals.

Onto the numbers! Due to popular demand, in addition to our usual format of giving changes relative to each previous value, the new values are now also given in relation to the values pre-rebalancing. For added convenience, we also implemented a list of changes in the client this time.

Finally we would like to thank all the players who have supported us with constructive feedback. We always welcome helpful comments and input.

To the hunting grounds,

A Piece of Cake

ttention, attention! Starting on Friday, February 21, cake golems will return as part of the "A Piece of Cake" event and attack certain cities in Tibia. Gather all pie lovers and face those sweet temptations. Those who manage to eat the huge amount of cake can look forward to yummy rewards!

Slay the invaders to get enough sweet and sugary substances and lure them into the cake extractor machines in Thais, Liberty Bay, Carlin, Darashia, and Edron! Both actions are necessary to enable the bakers near the machines to build a bridge to the legendary cake island.

Once you are on the island, you need to start munching the giant cake - as fast as you can. There is no bite to waste! Time will run out with the server save on February 26. If you manage to polish off the entire cake in time, your game world will be rewarded with 25% more health and mana regeneration and exclusively for premium accounts an experience bonus of 50% for seven days.

NPC Brutus will visit the cake island in case your game world has successfully finished the event. He will offer you a special reward if you are willing to follow his further instructions. You can also get one of three delicious cupcakes from Brutus:

  • The blueberry cupcake completely fills up your mana.
  • The strawberry cupcake will refill your health.
  • The lemon cupcake will increase your distance fighting skill by +10 for one hour.

First Changes to Rebalancing

ear Tibians,

thank you for your input on the recent rebalancing. We are currently still evaluating the feedback we receive and have already decided on the first changes:

Grounds of Plague, Grounds of Destruction, Grounds of Damnation, Grounds of Despair, Grounds of Fire and Halls of Ascension had their focus shifted from gold to XP. All monsters in these hunting grounds received an increase in XP and decrease in item drop chance. The XP is now ~80% of the XP value from before the rebalancing. The loot is now ~35-60% of the loot value from before the rebalancing. Since these monsters appear in other huntings grounds as well, this for instance also led to Rathleton Catacombs having its XP increased to the same level as it was pre-rebalancing without a change in loot.

Nightmares received an increase in XP, resulting in Oramond Mountain Hideout receiving an increase in XP. The XP is now ~80-85% of the XP value from before the rebalancing.

The announcement has been adjusted to account for these changes in relation to the values before the rebalancing.

We will continue to monitor the situation and make further changes when appropriate. We appreciate any kind of constructive feedback.

Have fun,
Your Community Managers

Hunting Ground Rebalancing

ear Tibians,

over the years many new areas have been added to the game, providing you with a variety of locations to hunt in. Some of these have proven to be more attractive than others and have become the top destination for certain level ranges, teams and vocations. To address this apparent inequality, through thorough analysis we have identified the top 20 hunting grounds, factoring in XP gain and profit, to come up with a plan to rebalance them. This research was highly data-driven and took a lot of play sessions into account.

In order to balance the areas, we decreased the XP as well as the item drop chance of certain monsters. This means that these monsters will still drop the same items, but at a lesser rate. Since this might increase the rarity of some items, they may have to be unlocked again in the bestiary. For instance, if you looted a rare item off a monster already which has now become a very rare item, the unlocked rare entry will be removed and a very rare locked entry will be added.

These changes to the creatures have been made due to their occurrence in the top 20 hunting grounds, but naturally this has effects on hunting grounds outside the top 20 where these creatures occur. We are going to keep an eye on any subsequent developments.

A list of the changed hunting grounds can be found here. Each of them now has a focus either on XP or loot. Please note that the changes are always relative to each hunting ground. For example, a hunting ground with a moderate or significant decrease in XP can still give more XP than one with only slighly decreased XP or no change at all.

In addition to these changes, we have reworked some of the hunting grounds of the 2019 summer and winter update. Here we not only changed the loot chance and XP of monsters, but also the monster density in some areas. The Central Steppe, Southern Steppe and Green Belt in Kilmaresh are now more populated. Equally, more creatures now roam the Netherworld, Zarganash and Barren Drift, so be careful! Barren Drift is a special case as previously players had to trigger a raid, whereas now the raid triggers every 30 minutes automatically if player involvement does not meet the requirements. Parts of Central Steppe have also been made more accessible in order to make hunting easier.

The burning gladiator, priestess of the wild sun and black sphinx acolyte now give slightly to moderately less XP with an unchanged item drop chance, whereas the flimsy lost soul, mean lost soul and freakish lost soul gained a moderate increase in item drop chance at slightly decreased XP. The cursed prospector has an unchanged item drop chance while giving moderately more XP.

We are going to monitor the developments in-game and will adjust values when necessary. Future adjustments to hunting grounds may arrive in smaller increments and will be mentioned in a ticker or news.

Happy hunting,
Your Community Managers
