|nce again, we have prepared some statistics about Tibians and their daily lives. We would like to share this information with you and also compare some of it to information that we have presented to you in previous articles, for example, in the featured article of May, 2015.
Statistics from Tibia Account Registrations
Today, just like last year, there are still over one million registered Tibia accounts. We can still say with certainty that the Tibia community ages with us. In 2015, the average Tibia player was born around 1990. This is still valid for today. So the average Tibia player in 2016 is around 26, one year older than last year.
And even though the numbers for the top 5 countries Tibia players come from according to their account registrations have slightly changed, the top 5 countries are still Brazil, Poland, Mexico, Sweden and the USA - in the exact same order as last year, and the years before.
We also took a look at the countries that were chosen least by players in Tibia account registrations:
Turkmenistan is the leading country on that list, with merely 8 registered Tibia accounts. The follow up is a country called Tokelau. Tokelau only has a bit more than 1,400 inhabitants according to information from Wikipedia (number from 2011 census). 10 Tibians have chosen Tokelau as their home country. That could mean that around 0.7% of all Tokelauans play Tibia! We thought that is a quite amazing number.
Brazil, the country named the most in account registrations, has a population of 205,338,000 (number also from Wikipedia, from an estimate in 2015), and of these, 570,255 have registered Tibia accounts. While that sounds a lot, only 0.3% of the population of Brazil plays Tibia. So one could say that Tibia is more spread among the population of Tokelau than in Brazil.
Are there any Tokelauans reading here...?
Since CipSoft is a German company, we were also curious about the quota of Tibia players in Germany. From the list of top countries according to account registrations, Germany is only on rank 12 with 12,239 registered Tibia accounts, right after the Netherlands. With a population of 82,175,700 inhabitants according to an estimate from 2015 (information once again taken from Wikipedia), there are even less than 0.015% of Germans playing Tibia.
Since it is a common assumption that less girls or women play games like Tibia, we also checked the ratio of female to male Tibia players. So judging from account registraions, about 9% of Tibia players are female. Last year, it was only at around 8%.
Of course not all of the registered Tibia accounts are also considered active. So another number we would like to share with you is the number of monthly active users. 323,000 different Tibia accounts were logged into the game between mid August and mid September 2016.
In 2009 there were about 6.54 million characters, in 2015 about 9 million, and this year (mid September) we count roughly 7 million characters that are roaming the Tibian lands. Of these, 1,240,666 are female and 5,852,672 male. So while Tibia has about 9% female players, there are about 18% female characters. Vocation wise, these 7 million characters are divided the following way:
It is notably that there are a lot less characters on Dawnport and Rookgaard this year in comparison to last year. Rathleton has gained a few, Ab'Dendriel has lost some, Thais grew a bit. So apart from the changes in the beginners islands, there are only smaller shifts. That coincides with Tibians not really changing their hometowns much, as several have stated in a poll on our website.
Another thing that Tibians do not change a lot are their guilds. Over 55% stated in another poll earlier this year that they are very loyal to their guilds and that there is only one guild for them.
Today, mid September 2016, there are 1,897 active guilds, 57 are currently being founded, and 412 might actually get disbanded automatically in case no suitable leaders or vice leaders are found in time.
There are about 1,000 guilds less in Tibia in comparison to last year. Antica is with 106 guilds still home of most guilds, followed by Secura with 90 guilds, and Luminera with 77 guilds. The five oldest guilds Soldiers of Justice, Mercenarys, Red Rose, Satori, and Messiahs of Beldam are still around today, too. On average, a Tibian guild consists of 56 members nowadays, which is 10 members more per guild on average compared to last year.
Let's take a peek into the daily lives of Tibians. Check out what Tibians have slayed the most during the week between September 11 and 18, 2016:
Tibians can be quite deadly, it seems. That can also be seen if you look at the statistics concerning what Tibians get killed by the most. The top reason of that list is 'other Tibia players'. In the above mentioned week, 60,215 deaths in Tibia have been caused by fellow Tibians.
Rotworms and dragons on the other hand should really up their game. While 5,235,275 dragons were killed in that one week, only 2,905 players were killed by dragons. And rotworms were only successful in 1,040 fights.
Every true warrior is proud of their armour and their weapons. So we took the liberty to find out what the current armour in fashion is among all Tibians between the levels 100 and 500 (data from September 21, 2016):
Seems like boots of haste, mastermind shields and gearwheel chains are definite must-haves in Tibia for everbody these days. For mages, also yalahri masks and grasshopper legs seem to be really trendy.
Now we have looked at Tibians, their accounts, their characters, and their daily deeds. Another interesting thing would be to see what Tibians shop for the most. We have asked all NPCs in the trading business to keep records of what they sell or buy between September 1 and September 19, 2016, to get a record of what went over the counter.
The top 5 traded items with NPCs in this period of time were:
Forget coffee or beer! For Tibians, mana is the drug of their lives. No matter the size, Tibians guzzle that pink juice as if it were water.
The Royal Tibia mail asked us, if we could also check out their business, while we were at it. So we did, and in not even 20 days, almost 299,945 parcels, 1,856,772 labels and 37,305 letters were traded with NPCs. It is safe to say that the Royal Tibian mail will be able to maintain their services easily. We suggested that they stock up on labels, though. Almost 2 million labels...? That's 100,000 labels a day, roughly speaking. One thing is for sure, 'labelling things' must be one of these secret hobbies in Tibia that nobody speaks about...
We hope you enjoyed this little insight!
Have fun in Tibia!
