Character Auction Overview and FAQ
able of Contents
OverviewOn the bottom of the Store is a new button that will open up a dialog in which you can set up an auction to sell the character with which you are logged in:
The auction itself will be hosted on the Tibia website in the section Char Bazaar. When the auction has ended, the buyer has up to 7 days to pay the selling price. At the earliest you will receive the proceeds, minus the commission of 12%, immediately after the auction has ended. When you have received the Tibia Coins, the character disappears from your character list after the next server save. Note that the Tibia Coins you receive for selling a character may be partly or completely non-transferable initially as a matter of fraud protection. Non-transferable coins gained through a character sale become transferable at the latest after 120 days. You will receive several emails throughout the auctioning process until the sale and character transfer, keeping you up-to-date with what is currently happening. Bids are submitted on the Tibia website in the section Char Bazaar. Every relevant character detail is visible in the auction details. In this section you cannot only bid on characters, but also watch auctions you are particularly interested in or see auctions which have ended in the last 30 days. If you want to bid for a character, you can submit a bid limit, which has to be at least as high as the minimum bid in order to be accepted. Initially, the minimum bid is the starting price. However, it will be raised if a person bids on this character. Even though your bid limit may be higher than the minimum bid, you only bid as much as you need in order to have the highest bid. Let's look at an example:
When you submit your bid limit, 10% of it will be reserved, meaning this amount of coins can no longer be accessed. Previous reserved Tibia Coins will be taken into account when submitting a new bid limit. Example:
If 10% of the bid limit amounts to less than 51 TC, at least 51 TC are being reserved, meaning that in any case at least 51 TC are being reserved. Before you submit your bid, you will see how many TC exactly will be reserved. Once the auction has ended and you hold the highest bid, the price will be paid automatically if you have sufficient funds. The Tibia Coins previously reserved will be made available for this purpose. If you lack the necessary funds, you have 7 days to pay the selling price. When paid, the character will appear in your character list after the next server save. If you cannot pay the selling price after the 7 days, the reserved coins will be subtracted from your account's coin balance and the auction annulled. The seller will be informed via email about the annulled auction and receives their 50 TC auction fee back. You will receive several emails throughout the bidding process until the sale and character transfer, keeping you up-to-date with what is currently happening. FAQOnly characters will be traded, not accounts. Characters are entities inside an account, which share no information with the account and thus can be separated from it. Conversely, accounts act as containers, with the characters stored inside of them. Account-bound aspects cannot be transferred and include: loyalty, registration data, e-mail address, Tibia Coins, Tournament Coins, recovery key, password, authenticator, rule violation record, Premium time, account-wide outfits, account-wide mounts and Tournament tickets, if not yet assigned to a character. Character specific things include: creation date, character name, XP, skill levels, gold (in bank, depot, and inventory), normal items (in depot, stash, inbox, and inventory), Store items (in inventory and Store inbox), hirelings, hireling jobs, hireling outfits, normal mounts, Store mounts, normal outfits, Store outfits, blessings, imbuements, charms, charm points (available and spent), charm expansion, daily reward streak, hunting task points, permanent huntings task slots, permanent prey slots, completed cyclopedia map areas, completed quest lines, titles, achievements, achievement points, and bestiary progress. Only player characters will be traded. CipSoft does not create and auction off characters. What about account trading/sharing statements? If we receive statements of this kind, customer support will process them. We expect players not to share or trade their accounts, and we strongly advise against doing so as we know from experience that these practices can lead to all kinds of problems for the players. However, since there will be no dedicated Tibia Rules against the sharing and trading of accounts, different criteria will apply in regards to enforcement and possible sanctions, and such cases will be handled on a case by case basis. Players who share or trade their accounts and get into trouble as a result can expect no support from our side. Moreover, we reserve the right to apply further sanctions based on the individual situation; however, there are no standard rules of procedure. Please note, though, that violations of the Service Agreements are the sole concern between the contractual partners, i.e. us and the holder of the account. For this reason we cannot provide any further information in regards to the account or possible sanctions. I have received a punishment for account trading/sharing in the past. Will I get compensated? No, because a Tibia Rule was violated at the point of time when the punishment was issued. Moreover, account trading and sharing still goes against our Service Agreements and we do not condone it nor do we provide any kind of support in case problems arise as a consquence. Can a hacker sell my characters and make money with them? The authenticator provides another layer of protection, which is why it is mandatory for engaging in character auctions. You can further protect your account by following our security hints. What happens if the buyer cannot pay due to insufficient funds? If the buyer cannot pay the selling price in the 7 days post-purchase, the reserved coins (10% of the bid limit, but at least 51 TC) will be subtracted from their account's coin balance. The seller will be informed via email about the annulled auction and receives their 50 TC auction fee back. What happens if the character limit on my account has been reached, before I buy a character? Every bid is factored into your maximum number of characters. For example, if you have 17 active characters in your account, you can bid on 3 characters at most, as you would have reached your maximum number of 20 active characters by then. Can I cancel an auction if the bids are not high enough? No. Once the first bid has come in, you can no longer cancel an auction. What happens with my account when I have sold off all characters? Nothing. An account does not need to contain a character. When you create an account, it does not contain a single character either. Yes. In this case, no other character is designated as main character automatically, however. If you would like to have a main character again, you have to buy a "Main Character Change" in the Store. What happens to the VIP list and friend list of the sold character and with the lists this character is on? Once sold, the VIP list and friend list of the character will be deleted entirely. Moreover, the character will be removed from any VIP list and friend list it was part of. How do I recognize a traded character? Recently traded characters are marked in numerous ways. Recently traded means that the character has been transferred in the last 30 days. After this 30 day period, the character will no longer be marked. Ingame, every recently traded character receives the addition "(traded)" behind their name when writing a chat message. A right-click on the chat message offers the context menu entry "Traded Character" which reveals how many days ago the character was traded. Furthermore, items whose text description can be altered (e.g. letters) display a hint that the text was last changed by a character which was recently traded. On the website, players will be marked with "(traded)" in the characters section. In the forums, recently traded characters will receive the addition "traded" as well as a tooltip below their name when posting. Posts written by this character before the trade will also be marked "traded", but can no longer be reported. The character's post count is reset as well. Can I still get a refund for refundable Store services after a trade? The 14 days refund period for certain services purchased in the Store expires by putting this character on auction. If the auction is cancelled or annulled, the refund period is reinstated and the services can be refunded again. Can I transfer characters directly? We do not currently plan to introduce another system than what is described above, which is public auctions. While you cannot directly transfer a character from one account to another, you can certainly create an auction and bid on the character yourself in order to move it to another account. This obviously still includes the possibility of somebody else outbidding you. We have decided against offering other options to avoid fraud scenarios. |
