Error Message: "Tibia is currently down for maintenance."
The "Tibia is currently down for maintenance" message may indicate that the servers are temporarily offline for scheduled maintenance, but it can also be a sign that the game client is unable to connect to the servers due to a certificate or network issue.
If the message persists for an unusually long period and no maintenance has been announced, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
- Update Your Operating System
We strongly recommend updating your system to a vendor-supported version. For Windows, this should be at least Windows 10 64-bit with all updates installed. Updating your OS can prevent connectivity issues caused by outdated systems. - Manually Install the Correct Root Certificate (these steps use Windows 7 as an example.)
- Download the LetsEncrypt root certificate from https://letsencrypt.org/certs/isrgrootx1.der
- Open File Explorer and navigate to your Downloads folder.
- Double-click the downloaded file isrgrootx1.der
- In the file details dialog that should have popped up, click the "Install Certificate..." button.
- Follow the Certificate Import Assistant by clicking the "Next" button two times, and then click "Complete".
- You should receive a notification confirming that the import was successful.
- Ensure Proper Network Access
Make sure that:- Tibia.exe has access to HTTPS port 443 on www.tibia.com.
- Your firewall, antivirus, or router is not blocking this connection.
- If you're on a large network (like at work or school), contact the network administrator for assistance.
